DR. Leon McLean

Dr. McLean is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine, where he earned his M.D. and Master of Public Health degrees, as well as University of Maryland Baltimore, where he earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine. His post-graduate training was at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Gastroenterology. Dr. McLean is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.

Dr. McLean has a special interest and advanced training in the care of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis). He is an American Gastroenterological Association Fellow and a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.

Dr. McLean holds leadership and educational roles throughout the state. He is Chair of the Board of Trustees at Parkland Medical Center where he also serves as Director of Endoscopy. He is a member of the Governing Board at the Surgical Center of New Hampshire at Derry where he also serves as the Medical Director. Dr. McLean is the Director of Endoscopy at Androscoggin Valley Hospital. He is a member of the HCA New Hampshire Market Advisory Council. Dr. McLean is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and a speaker for Abbvie, Johnson & Johnson, and Pfizer.

Prior to joining Granite State Gastrointestinal Consultants, Dr. McLean was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He served as Head of Gastroenterology at University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus and Director of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the VA Maryland Health Care System. He has published multiple scientific and clinical articles, co-authored book chapters, and presented his research at several national meetings.
